january 2013 Horoscope: Predictions for Gemini

Party like it’s 1999? Not so much, Gemini. While everyone else might be content to usher in 2013 with a carefree dance throwback from your signmate Prince, you could begin the New Year as you often do: in a private, reflective mood. The Sun is making its annual visit to Capricorn, your eighth house of intimacy and transformation, until January 19. Putting the mute button on your social life (briefly, of course) feels restorative, allowing you to shed old, outworn skin—fitting preparation for the upcoming Chinese zodiac year of the water snake in February.

Your cocoon days expire on January 19, when the sun moves into fellow air-sign Aquarius, your ninth house of optimism and higher education. But before you go jetting off to sunnier skies, the January 11 Capricorn new moon gives you a chance to deeply feel and reflect on your innermost desires and emotions. We’re talking the kind of contemplation that can wake you up in the middle of the night (perhaps even at a numerically significant time, such as 3:33 or 4:44), aching for more soulful connection with your partner or with a prophetic flash of downloaded insight about your next move. With communicator Mercury, harmonizer Venus and transformational Pluto also in Capricorn, this new moon is especially potent. The eighth house also rules joint ventures, marriage and even pregnancy. A business or love relationship could get a lot more “permanent” in the coming six months. Are you ready to find your soulmate or so-called better half? At the very least, this new moon will give some insight on how to deepen the bonds you already have.

By the end of January, you’ve officially been “processed.” On the 26th, more insight floods in with the full moon in Leo, your third house of communication. You’re finally ready to have that important conversation, to clear the air or just express yourself whole-heartedly and unreservedly. While it’s not like you to hold back, what you have to say now will be especially true and sincere. You could receive some exciting news that you’ve been waiting for, possibly related to writing or teaching, or an opportunity to do something meaningful at the community level. This is the culmination of events sparked last August 17 at the Leo new moon, so look back to that date for clues.

By the time February rolls around, you’ll be glad you paced yourself. On January 30, expansive Jupiter ends a four-month retrograde in Gemini, your first house of personal goals. (Can we get a whoot-whoot?) Between now and July, you’re on a roll and ready to take flight on some serious, horizon-broadening adventures! Jupiter first entered Gemini in June 2012, setting off a fresh 12-year life cycle. However, all those promising ventures launched last summer may have lost steam in October, forcing you to go back to the drawing board or scale down overly ambitious plans. Now that lucky Jupiter is charging ahead…watch out world! Jupiter remains in your sign until June 25, 2013. You’ve got five months of pure self-expression ahead. Enjoy!
